THE PYJAMA TREE

One day, a child asked Jean Lambert-wild where the identical striped pyjamas worn by his many alter egos came from. Jean Lambert-wild replied that, like so many other fruits, they grew on a tree: the Pyjama Tree. He only had to wait until the pyjamas were ripe to pick them and put them on. 

Jean Lambert-wild, lover of arboriculture and connoisseur of imagination, has found one of these magical trees at the heart of a park in Montpellier. From the ground, one catches sight of surprising fruits that gently float in the wind: striped pyjamas, of all sizes, oscillating and dancing like peaceful ghosts that murmur among the branches. Cosy, delicately filled with the breeze that cuddles up in the fabric and gives them human shape, they ripen under the sun.

For a few hours every day, these fruits of dreams can be picked. A gardener, also in his pyjamas and equipped with long clippers, ascends an interminable wooden ladder to pick the nightdress the audience member has elected and sells them the product of his harvesting: artfully made pyjamas, in the right size size!

Those who have purchased these pyjamas will not have to pay for their ticket when they go to the theatre, providing they wear their new acquisition out of their bed. The pyjamas will serve as an admission ticket, for it is the sign that their owner belongs to a family of dreamers, poets and gardeners; the sign that one knows where to find the Pyjama Tree, that one still knows how to dream.
